As you may have heard, there are two new seasonal brews on tap at the Olde Main Brewpub. Both are birthed from the same crisp clean pilsner mother, and both share an 8.5%abv imperial heritage. This, however, is where the similarities end.
You see… these two were separated at birth. Two sides of the same delicious coin. One was brought up to enjoy the finer things in life. Carl, as he is called, was aged over a bed of dry hops which greatly influenced his character. With a sturdy white head on his shoulders Carl fills the nose with citrus, pine, and floral notes – a hoppy fellow to say the least with a clean refreshing finish.
The other brew, however, didn’t have such a hoppy upbringing. Since being exposed to the joys and excesses of oaked bourbon early in life, this brew turned to the dark side. Black Mamba, as he became known, took on the smooth, earthy flavors of charred oak as well as a spicy bite from an early existence soaked in bourbon.
Now that both have fully matured, Carl and Black Mamba have been reunited once again. Stop in and meet them for yourself on tap at the Olde Main Brewpub. And remember, at 8.5%abv, both of these beers are to be taken seriously. Please enjoy responsibly.

American Craft Beer Week is the “
Mother of All Beer Weeks.” It’s a time to celebrate small and independent craft brewers and highlight all that the U.S. loves about craft beer. Here at Olde Main we’ve got a few things planned from a cook off to a specialty firkin. Come join us to cheers with a pint of Olde Main brew!
Special Craft Beer Week Firkin Tapping – Thursday, May 20, 5-8pm
- A firkin filled with a one-of-a-kind beer concocted by Olde main’s brewers will be tapped. A firkin is an old style wooden mini-keg with nine imperial gallons (10.8 US gallons). To tap the firkin you hammer in the old fashioned tap through a special wooden seal.
- A beer quiz will determine who gets to tap the firkin. People can submit their answers online or at the brewery from 5/17-5/19. The person with the highest score will win tapping rights to the firkin and Olde Main merchandise. But, remember you must be present to win! More details on the beer quiz coming soon.
Brewery Tours – Saturday, May 22, 2-4pm
- Olde Main brewers will give free brewery tours to share the process of how Olde Main beer is made from grain to bottle.
Stew Your Brew Cook Off – Saturday, May 22, 2-5pm
- Olde Main cooks and brewers will judge the Stew Your Brew Cook Off to determine the best dish made with Olde Main beer. Entrants must submit the dish they plan to bring to the Cook Off online or at the brewery by 5/19.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top three dishes: 1st place – $50 gift card, t-shirt, pint glasses, recipe on website and e-newsletter, and used as a one-time lunch or dinner special at the restaurant; 2nd place – $20 gift card, t-shirt, and recipe on the website; 3rd place – $10 gift card, t-shirt, and recipe on the website
- To participate in the Cook Off, fill out an entry form at Olde Main or send an email to jill@oldemainbrewing.com with your name, email, phone number, and recipe (the dish must be an original and one of the ingredients needs to be an Olde Main beer). You must be 21 or older to participate and be able to bring a finished dish (serving size for at least 2 people) to Olde Main on Saturday, May 22 at 2pm for judging.
